Keats by Henry Van Dyke

Henry Van Dyke 1852-1933

Keats

The melancholy gift Aurora gained
From Jove, that her sad lover should not see
The face of death, no goddess asked for thee,
My Keats! But when the crimson blood-drop stained
Thy pillow, thou didst read the fate ordained, —
Brief life, wild love, a flight of poesy!
And then, — a shadow fell on Italy:
Thy star went down before its brightness waned,

Yet thou hast won the gift Tithonus missed:
Never to feel the pain of growing old,
Nor lose the blissful sight of beauty’s truth,
But with the ardent lips that music kissed
To breathe thy song, and, ere thy heart grew cold,
Become the Poet of Immortal Youth

Raging Storm

Raging Storm
Form: Four Kings Sonnet

The moon understands the beauty of rain
As she drops behind the gathering cloud
The night ignores her behind her dark shroud
As he rages us with his storm again
Perhaps he wants to remove human stain
And so he voices his anger aloud
The moon in her silence knows man is proud
And this, a raging night, is all in vain

The storms passes and she can shine again
A brief respite between the thundercloud
And the rising of the sun, day unbowed
The storms destruction seen in every lane
And humans wail as if they are in pain
Just watch as storms gather in a grey crowd

A Year in the Life – Day 100

Day 100
Prompt: 100 Days, Well Done

Hi Nigel

‘Hiya! That’s quite an achievement and our second milestone;

Second?

‘Yes, writer. You gave us 6 weeks and here we are’

True. And this one is just over a quarter of the way through the year

‘I think that’s quite something really’

It is mate

‘And you have got a story brewing too’

I think that’s the whole point of the project

‘And I thought it as because you love me’

Haha! I have no intention to kill you off just yet

‘I won’t let you yet, there is so much I want to do’

Have you been reading the outline?

‘No, I took a glance at the intro. Is that okay?’

If I said no, would it stop you?

‘Of course… NOT!’

Haha!

‘You said I could say what I think of what you write and to do that I have to read it’

True enough. I have no objection anyway

‘I figured that or you wouldn’t leave it around for me to read’

Now, there’s a thing how the devil do I hide anything from you

‘That’s a bit of a dilemma, isn’t it?’

You are free to come and go in this creative reality, just as I am

‘Ahh, so you are a character in our story then’

I figure I will have to be

‘And are you fictional too?’

Of course, I think it will be the only way to make it work

‘We all know you are bonkers, writer, but I see your point. Random chats with a figment of imagination probably isn’t a good idea’

And random chats between two such figments are?

‘Is that not what makes dialogue in a story?’

Very true. See you tomorrow, Nige
