Quatern Notes

The Quatern consists of four four-line stanzas. As is common with French forms there is a refrain, but unusually no rhyme scheme is specified. Typical of French poetry it consists of eight-syllable lines and no meter is specified.
The Refrain is the first line of the first stanza, which becomes the second line of the second stanza, the third line of the third stanza, and the last line of the last stanza.
Example

In The Darkness by Terry Clitheroe

In the darkness I find my fear
Feeling, hearing every sound
Lying here powerless to fight
Totally aware of the dark.

Then I feel the first sharp bite
In the darkness I find my fear
The sensation the acid burns
Feeling, hearing every sound.

I feel them everywhere now
Penetrated a million times
In the darkness I find my fear
Voracious appetites I feed.

My body now a piece of meat
In the darkness I find my fear,
Feeling, hearing every sound
In the darkness I find my fear

The song of the white wolf..

Beautiful

johncoyote

The song of the white wolf..

The luminous sky above us and we watch. The sun and the moon. Kissed hello and kissed goodbye.
We burn sage for our world and we pray to the starry night.
We seek the quiet sea and the never-ending night.
We ask the Goddess of the sea, Amphitrite.
Please allow us to dance and sing for the night.
Please allow us to escape the madness of our world.
I told my dearest friend, my dearest love.
Dear White Wolf, if I lost you.
I would lose my muse, I would lose myself.
She kissed me once, she kissed me many times.
She whispered to me. I am here.
The night is long and let’s pray for more.
Let’s pray we can find safe place where life is love,
love is life.

Tonight we shall howl to the moon, tonight we shall dance for the stars.

Perfection (SoCS)

Inspired by and written for Stream of Consciousness Saturday – thank you, Linda

Form: Free Write

Prompt: Perfection

Perfection is what? Someone tell me, please. Actually, don’t, I really don’t give a monkey’s half-chewed banana what others think we all should be. You know those others that don’t meet their own ideology because, like the rest of us, they are imperfect but will make your life crap because you don’t. The fact is not one of us is perfect or imperfect – we are just who we are. Plain and simple, like god, perfection just doesn’t exist and like religion, it is used to make us all feel less worthy for not believing in it. None of us need that crapology in our lives. Life is hard enough without such degrading and belittling stuff being thrown at us in the name of a non-existent concept. I really don’t get people who think they can inflict their opinion on other people who do life a bit differently to their imagined perfection and expect those same people to conform to that ideology, especially when those preaching it clearly can’t do it, or more likely won’t, themselves. Perfection as an ideal, then, is at best guess, morally corrupt and negatively toxic, and I am glad, nay, delighted, it doesn’t exist

Unusually (WOTDC)

Inspired by and written for Word of the Day Challenge – thank you, Cyranny

Definition: Unusually – adv. in a way that is not habitual or common

Synonyms: curiously, strangely, uncommonly, oddly, rarely

Form: Pathya Vat 1

Its’s not unknown
Though maybe rare
To see a bear
Sat in the town
He’s sat alone
Where tracks once crossed
Perhaps he’s lost
And needs a hand
I offered help
He said, “No, chum”
With his face glum
“Here, have a chip”
I said, “They’re hot”
He grinned a bit
So I saw fit
To buy him lunch
Burger with cheese
And a milk shake
Gave him the break
Then he went home
