Hermit Crab

Hermit Crab
Form: Free Verse

The time has come
he must move on
find a new place in which to thrive
to leave his home
in search of better things
to break out from the cage of moral codes
and archaic vows made before reality
shone into his depths with pure light
he needs to cut loose from the ever tightening noose
for love and desire were a trap
between a rock and a hard place
between the devil and the deep
like a hermit crab trapped between the blue sea
and the endless sand of land
he’s burning with dreams out of reach
this world is too small for them both to survive
so he scuttles searching for a new place
to save him from this incineration
before it is too late
and it may seem like the easy option
escaping the torture of a self-made hell
to listen again to the ocean’s inviting roar
he needs to find his own space
in his own shell

A Measure of Character by Larry Eberhart

What you are told in confidence
if you hold secret to your breast
reward will flow in unknown ways.
An urge to propagate a tale
to pique the interest of a friend
there can surely be no good end
when confidences you assail
a gentle whispered word betrays
when silence serves your honor best
Your revelation makes no sense
I’ll never trust my thoughts with you
if other’s secrets you will spew
If rumors gain some cognizance
From what you’re told in confidence

Crystals – Moldavite

Namaste,

After a few weeks sabbatical, I am now going to be looking at and writing about the crystals I use in my witchery. I keep a bag of various crystals and draw one when I need a bit of guidance. The first one picked at random for my writing is Moldavite, sometimes spelled Maldivite.

Moldavite

Moldavite is olive green in colour and is associated with all the chakra. It is the crystal of ascension. Moldavite symbolizes it is time to move forward and the universe is waiting to guide us.

Moldavite is useful in magnifying the vibrations of other crystals. It is also useful in meditation as a focus for connecting to the higher powers of the universe. Moldavite is used in the exploration of past lives and for clearing the aura of unwanted emotions and any undesirable life baggage we may have picked up. By increasing the sense of self-awareness Moldavite reveals the emotions and feelings that are holding us back or making us unhappy enabling them to be dealt with and allowing us to move forward.

Affirmation: I am ready to move forward with the highest spiritual guidance

The Architect

The Architect
Form: Asean Sonnet

And in her beauty dwells my ludic sprite,
my honour freely given to love's delight,
hand holding hand throughout the darkest night
revealed the place we dream when life's contrite.
Her voice in quiet whispered words invite
a curving smile to bring a kiss of light
within the moonless room again tonight
the taste of honey found in passions flight.
She is the architect that dreams incite
my tribade lover easing lusts harsh plight
the sanguine touch that bears no rage or spite
or lacks the courage sought in social fight.
Her kiss the sign my heart is in respite,
for love, at last, has filled my wanting sight

Heartache No. 7 by Monir Shahroudy Farmanfarmaian

Heartache No. 7 by Monir Shahroudy Farmanfarmaian

Heartache No. 7
1994
Sculptural Assemblage
Mixed media

After the death of her husband in 1991 and whilst still in exile from Iran, Farmanfarmaian created a series of sculptural assemblages known as “Heartaches”. They were filled with family photographs, jewellery, and other memorabilia she had collected or created that reminded her of her homeland. Despite being used to working in a workshop with a team of artisans and craftsmen, Farmanfarmaian produced the “Heartaches “ inside her apartment on her own. In “Heartache No. 7” there is an evident reference to Persian carpets as are the allusions to miniature Persian paintings characterized by jewel-like colours.

Old Romance

A Garret Poet

Old Romance
Form: Arabian Onegin Sonnet

Her spirit is as free as heaven’s air,
the gorgeous girl whose love I long to share
while tripping through the light of passion’s air
where I shall find the way to say I care.

If darkened eyes reveal a simple verse
can love be shown within a poet’s verse?
Perhaps my pen should practice more, rehearse,
before the pond’rous thoughts my dreams immerse.

To rest my pen when hearing lover’s call
her smiling face that muses to my all
even my words are hers to beck and call.

A poet seeks the ways of old romance,
and writes of love while courting new romance,
inviting her to join the tribade dance
