Passion’s Fire

A Garret Poet

Passion’s Fire
Form: Cyhydedd Fer Sonnet

A heart that dreams without a care
shall feel this pain without compare
so great it sends the mind insane
as words of love are said in vain.
And though I beg from on my knees
no sweetheart’s kiss shall bring me ease,
as beauty scorns my heart’s delight
my dreams invade another night.
Yet as I lie to take my rest
and feel her kiss upon my breast
I hear her voice so softly speak
and sense her lips upon my cheek
so I surrender to desire
where she incites my passion’s fire
