Unbound Love

Unbound Love
Form: Ivorian Sonnet 84
Prompt: Love and Infidelity

The pain of infidelity is lies
For deceit is not a pleasant disguise
In its betrayal of respect and trust
As words of love deny truth with a smile
Inside the heart is beginning to bust
Honesty matters in keeping it real
When love isn’t bound by a sacred vow
For truth in itself will always reveal
The desire for lust the heart will allow
If words truly say what the heart can feel
It won’t make vows that fade slowly to dust
Unconditional love the only how
Releasing a lover to roam awhile
The unbound heart sees with different eyes

Messy Room by Shel Silverstein

Messy Room

Whosever room this is should be ashamed!
His underwear is hanging on the lamp.
His raincoat is there in the overstuffed chair,
And the chair is becoming quite mucky and damp.
His workbook is wedged in the window,
His sweater’s been thrown on the floor.
His scarf and one ski are beneath the TV,
And his pants have been carelessly hung on the door.
His books are all jammed in the closet,
His vest has been left in the hall.
A lizard named Ed is asleep in his bed,
And his smelly old sock has been stuck to the wall.
Whosever room this is should be ashamed!
Donald or Robert or Willie or–
Huh? You say it’s mine? Oh, dear,
I knew it looked familiar!

Leap of Faith

A Garret Poet

Leap of Faith
Form: Echo Sonnet

To gain the best from life we can't rehearse
as chances come when least we look to see,
reject in fear and ne'er see destiny
the leaps in faith that light the universe.

To never know, indeed a darker curse
that shrouds the heart within a mask of fear
so, eyes are blind when misty dreams come clear,
to leaps in faith that light the universe.

Untaken chances cannot reimburse
the broken heart that feels a distant pain
but souls of courage learn to trust again
the leaps in faith that light the universe.

To gain the best from life we can't rehearse
the leaps in faith that light the universe
