Example
Majestic Gaze by Jez Farmer
Poised, an Arcadian goddess
Adorned in luxury and style
Beauty bursting from her bodice
Artist entranced within a smile
Outside, a returning empire
Restoring imperial days
As paint captures her eyes of fire
Caught within her majestic gaze
Reflections of money and wealth
We’d say a sugar-daddy’s bride
Such beauty could never be stealth
When worn with grace and elegant pride
But love cares not about time and age
And works in mysterious ways
So perhaps our eyes should engage
Caught within her majestic gaze
Inherited Traits
Form: Ivorian Sonnet 77
Theme: Love
Today I saw her hands echo in mine Delicate creases and an extra line The family ties shared in DNA Both lightly dusted in self-raising flour Recalling those times you showed me the way A freshly baked cake will be nice for tea Of course I’ll remember to warm the pot And I wonder how much of you made me Inherited traits and tea on the dot It is raining so indoors it will be An indoor picnic will do me just fine Like we did when the summer rained a lot My Nan making it fun on a dull day And I look at my hands and feel your power
