Lyrics by David Sylvian

We’re pushing through these farming towns
We’ve worked hard ploughing over grounds

Red army calls you
The call of the crowd
Red army needs you
It calls you now

Cantonese boy
Bang your tin drum
Cantonese boy
Civilian soldier
Cantonese boy
Bang your tin drum
Cantonese boy
Red army calls you home

We’re singing
Marching through the fields
We’re changing
The lives we’ve led for years

Red army calls you
Red army needs you

Gentlemen you heard this call
Raised your glass and called for more
Only young men broke the wall

Fire and Pride

Fire and Pride
Form: Acrostic

Fiercely won in humility,
Independence of conceptual thought,
Remains the writer’s ambition
Evoked by words drifting to line and verse.
Ambiguous acts of governments
Nurtured contempt and fear of the quill
Demands for freedom lie silenced.
Personal battles fought with the pen
Rights wrestled from censors,
Inventive imaginations born in free creativity
Deviant poets voices will be heard
Evolving in openness to reveal artistic flow

Ground Control to Major Tom
Captain Scarlet has lost his way
and Spectrum no longer shines green
and I’ve lost my mind to circumstance
Ground Control is shutting down
Captain Scarlet can’t see the light
his world is turning black
and anarchy is out of control
replacing wisdom with their bloody lies
Ground Control I’m all alone
can you hear me, Ground Control
Major Tom has done a bunk
and Captain Scarlet seems to be dead
and I’m switching to autopilot to bring me home
can you hear me, Ground Control
I’m doing what Dorothy said
there’s no place like home
Ground Control…
is there anybody out there?

I’m a writer, right?

Words are my game, right?

And yes I play dictionary games every day so words I have a lot to play with, an abundance in fact. So let’s start at the very beginning, a good place to start, and see where we go

Abundance defined
Abundance – /əˈbʌnd(ə)ns/
noun: a very large quantity of something – there is an abundance of words in the dictionary
noun: (in solo whist) a bid by which a player undertakes to make nine or more tricks – okay I didn’t know that!!!

A pig in the poke – something that is bought or accepted without first being seen or assessed – sounds like a scam to me

Oh come on, I hear you all wondering how I could attack an innocent tin of Spam, trust me I feel guilty, and I’m hanging my head in shame – but not for long as somehow we have landed on Python

Totally worth it
That’s it for today, till tomorrow
