By accident, you put
Your money in my
Machine (#4)
By accident, I put
My money in another
Machine (#6)
On purpose, I put
Your clothes in the
Empty machine full
Of water and no
Clothes

It was lonely

Surrealistic Memory of the Master

A Garret Poet

Surrealistic Memory of the Master
Form: Glosa

Texte:

Don’t watch the water clock with its membraned wings
or the hard scythe of the allegory.
Always in the air, dress and undress your brush
before the sea peopled with sailors and ships.
~ Federico Garcia Lorca

Don’t watch the water clock with its membraned wings
for memory has no closure inside time
nor can the limbs of delicate flight lift thoughts
of what may have been.

Or the hard scythe of the allegory ~ such
emblems of death deny imagination
as artists shrivel into surrealistic
stained reality.

Always in the air, dress and undress your brush
inhale breaths of colour to caress each line
of idle dreams that remain your creation
in sable whispers.

Before the sea peopled with sailors and ships
and tigresses who dance the flight of the bee
impart the persistence of memory on
the canvas of life

Portmanteau (Ragtag Daily Prompt)

Inspired by and written for the Ragtag Daily Prompt, my thanks to Punam

Form: The Blitz

Packing up time
Packing the bags
Bags, are there too many?
Bags, will they get lost?
Lost on the way
Lost in flight
Flight to the fantasy
Fight of escape
Escape from everyday
Escape the mundane for a place exotic
Exotic beaches and blue seas
Exotic places far from it all
All new things to explore
All there in a new world
World seen in a glossy magazine
World is the oyster in a shell
Shells collected as souvenirs
Shellfish suppers with moonlit wine
Wine instead of afternoon tea
Wine tastes sweeter when duty-free
Free from the mundane 9 to 5
Freedom on the annual break
Breaking away from city life
Breaking out the suncream
Suncream at home on the bathroom shelf
Suncream if only we’d packed it
It’s one of those things
It can be bought in the resort
Resorts that promise liberty
Resorts crowded by tourists
Tourists seeking to escape
Tourists waiting in line for a bus
Bus to places of interest
Bus following a well-beaten track
Track on our holiday yet we keep it
Tracks to an open trail
Trails left by planes in the sky
Trails and backpacks wave them by
By the river the tents are up
By morning walking the unbeaten path
Paths of mystery away from it all
Paths seeking adventure
Adventure building memories
Adventures stored in snapshots
Snapshots to show reality
Snapshots to inspire the next time
Time to look back
Time to pack the bags and go
Go
Back

Picture Book (Ragtag Daily Prompt)

Inspired by and written for the Ragtag Daily Prompt, my thanks to BushBoy

Form: Barzeletta

As a child, I went into school
Studying hard on every rule
Ready to make my way in life
And then I met with stress and strife

Anyone can write words in rhyme
Without learning poetic art
You can draw too, but where to start
A pencil line from the first time

Waking up with my face a frown
The nine to five wearing me down
My love of art left far behind
I had lost my way to unwind

Anyone can write words in rhyme
Without learning poetic art
You can draw too, but where to start
A pencil line from the first time

I got some pens, started to write
I got some paint, drawing my sight
Just hobbies purely for pleasure
That’s something you cannot measure

Anyone can write words in rhyme
Without learning poetic art
You can draw too, but where to start
A pencil line from the first time

Images of words or fine-line ink
Opened my mind a chance to think
Now working brings me so much joy
The wonder of art my employ

Anyone can write words in rhyme
Without learning poetic art
You can draw too, but where to start
A pencil line from the first time
