Carreras is an operatic tenor best known for his performances in the operas of Donizetti, Verdi, and Puccini. He made his operatic debut at age 11 as Trujamán n Manuel de Falla’s “El Retablo de Messe Pedro”. Carreras’ career encompassed 60 roles, performed in some of the world’s leading opera houses and on numerous recordings. As one of the Three Tenors Carreras gained wider popularity in a series of large concerts with Plácido Domingo and Luciano Pavarotti. Carreras is also known for his humanitarian work as the president of the José Carreras International Leukaemia Foundation which he founded after his own recovery from the disease in 1988
