Recipe For Happiness Khaborovsk Or Anyplace

One grand boulevard with trees
with one grand cafe in sun
with strong black coffee in very small cups.

One not necessarily very beautiful
man or woman who loves you.

One fine day

Weekly Prompts Weekend Challenge – Love’s Portico

Inspired by and written for Weekly Prompts Weekend Challenge – thank you, Sue.

Waking up to Frankie’s Power of Love on my DAB and the quote “An arch consists of two weaknesses which, leaning one against the other, make a strength.”~ Leonardo da Vinci – which is on an arty poster on my bedroom wall. Pen ready, here goes

Love’s Portico
Form: Free Verse
Theme: Love
Subject: Arch

That night I held your tears
that wept from your shattered heart
tears of injustice
tears of sacrifice
and you thought you were broken
your soul left tired and weak
drawing on my determination
and inner resilience
we put the pieces of you back together
stronger than ever before
That night you held my fears
echoing screams from my nightmares
fears of it all happening again
fears of no escaping the past
and I thought I was nothing
my body aching with the anguish
hearing your whispers of calming
and words of grounding
we put the shards of me together
stronger than before
This night we hold each other
stronger and wiser
my darling, we are unbeatable
together

Night Echoes

Night Echoes
Form: Spanish Sonnet

Last night I heard you walking in the hall
And felt my rapid pulse quiver and quake
The moment nerves began to softly shake
In the silence came the voice of love's call.
Last night I felt love enchant and enthral
As senses quivered to gently awake
And left my heart open for you to take
Amid the want that is passion's befall.
Yet old fears raged in memories of pain
Those spite fuelled words that dragged me to the floor
In darkness doubts surface; a cold steel chain
A war cry that is love's hungered encore
Empowered dreams return to chance again
Released my heart is free to love you more
