The ‘CBS Building’ was the last major project taken on by Saarinen before he died in 1961. His senior designers Kevin Roche and John Dinkeloo, whose firm succeeded Saarinen’s practice, completed the project. Saarinen’s only true skyscraper, the building is 38 storeys and is the headquarters of the CBS Corporation, however, it is not the broadcast centre for any of its media.

Eero Saarinen was an architect and industrial designer known for creating an array of designs for buildings and monuments, including the passenger terminal at Dulles International Airport. He was the son of the Finnish architect Eliel Saarinen
