In “Table with Pink Tablecloth”, a curious hybrid object, Artschwager creates an unusual tension between abstraction and reality. Despite the title, the table is too low and solid to push a chair under. Formica panels applied to the surface suggest a pink speckled tablecloth with the woodgrain table legs and dark space underneath however, ultimately, they are synthetic veneer that the object is a flat replica of reality.
