In the heat of the moment and summer sun
irrational thoughts and fraught emotions
stretched in taut tension
in the fields of attrition
the battles commenced
whilst tear-stained faces
peer from the sooty windows
that steam out of the city
uncertainty the only certainty
and delicate fingers picks dandelions in the garden
loaded with wishes she blows
for peace
